This pattern is easily discernible in those designs which recall several stylistic variations without being reminiscent of any one in particular. Some forms recall familiar objects, while others are simply evocative in their own right. Harsh and gentle lines intermingle to form patterns which are sometimes harmonious and sometimes noisy and exclamatory. These are patterns which give space to our imaginative and interpretative powers. They are less explicit, perhaps, but they make no less of an impact than the figurative patterns.
